You'd
like to plant it in the garden…
It
is always hard to estimate how big a tree will grow, so here are some
simple, standard tips:
-
Keep away from walls as the growing tree may affect them, and from
swimming pools where its leaves will not be welcome.
- Keep away from electricity and telephone wires.

Not
too much wind… a bit of space...
Not too close to other trees...
There you have it. You've found the right spot.
Dig
a hole 40 cm wide and 40 cm deep.
This will allow the roots to grow in loose soil for two or three
years. If the soil looks inhospitable or too heavy, mix in some
compost or some thoroughly decomposed manure

Before
filling in the hole around the tree, plant its future stake
slightly
to the west of the middle of the hole. This will protect the trunk
of your young sapling from the setting sun in summer.
Fill
the hole in with a mixture of soil and compost, removing
any stones. Hollow out enough soil from the freshly refilled hole
for the undisturbed rootball of your Baby Tree. Ensure that the top
of the clod of soil clinging to your Baby Tree is level with the
ground. Close up the hollow and pat the soil down gently with the
back of your fingers.
|
Water
copiously in order to tamp the earth down and get rid of any air bubbles.
Add a little more soil if necessary, although be sure to leave a slight
dip around the tree. Water again.
Mulch the ground. Your Bébé-arbreTM
had
lived in a nursery up to today, where young trees together would protect
each other from variations in temperature...
